The more Complicated Datawipe Operations.

Updated: Nov 18, 2024

We will start with a slightly more complicated scenario, one where the customer wants drives wiped at their premises. Let's also assume their router does not support PXE boot AND the laptops containing the drives are not plugged into the network or are loose. For those users who offer off site wiping services this is a frequent scenario.

In this case you will boot from a USB drive which has recyclewipe pre-loaded. The USB version of Recyclewipe also has wireless connectivity built in. So, one of your employees merely uses their phone as a wireless hotspot, the USB connects to that hotspot and all the same data gets sent back to ROMS as if you were hard wired.

Some datacenters are ultra secure so won't permit phones or indeed ANY outside connectivity. Recyclewipe has a solution for this too. In addition to the boot USB you will also have a bluetooth usb. One of the boot usb drives is designated as the 'master' usb. All of the slave units send all the data back to the master unit. Once the wiping and testing is done and you are back at your facility, boot any machine with the master usb and all the data will be automatically uploaded to your ERP.

Capturing drive serials off site is tedious and time consuming. Recyclewipe has a soluton for this too. This is an app which runs on any phone (Apple, Android, Windows etc) and automatically captures ALL barcodes on a drive and then takes a photo. This is transmitted back to the ERP along with geolocation details. The AI figures out which of the barcodes is the actual serial number.
